Jeongwi An, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow in Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences
I graduated from West Virginia University with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and completed my clinical internship at the University of Florida Health Science Center (Medical/Health Psychology Track). During my internship, I provided psychological assessments and intervention for adults with acute and chronic health concerns, including chronic pain, insomnia, cancer, transplant, and bariatric surgery. I also have clinical experience across diverse settings, including nursing home, family medicine, neurology, prison, and youth center, in South Korea and U.S. My research interest has focused on biopsychosocial factors (e.g., cognitive bias, fear of pain, depression) affecting chronic illness, along with the development of psychological interventions targeting these factors. More recently, my research interest has expanded to investigate the role of sleep impairment in the development and maintenance of chronic pain, and to examine the efficacy and effectiveness of sleep interventions across various health conditions, including cancer, chronic pain, mood disorders, and obesity.
